AhlulBayt News Agency: Iraq’s Foreign Minister stressed that Iranians will not initiate any attack.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said that Iranians emphasize they will not be the initiators of any attack; however, if they are attacked, they are prepared to defend themselves and have taken clear positions in this regard.
In response to a question about whether his recent trip to Iran signaled Tehran’s readiness for another war, Hussein said it was about readiness to defend itself. He added that Iranians have no problem engaging in dialogue to resolve disputes.
Hussein noted that mediating between Iran and the United States is very difficult. “I went to Tehran and heard the views of Iranian officials, and at the same time I also held talks with the American side,” he said.
He added that the main problem at present is the lack of direct communication. “If a decision is made to hold a meeting, then Iraq can play a role.”
